AttestedReginca on the Peutinger map.

Where:  Modern Alet next to St Malo, Brittany, at the mouth of the river Rance.

Name Origin:  Possibly beginning like PIE *reig- ‘to reach, to stretch out’ and ending with -ca ‘opening’, from PIE *ghai- ‘to gape’.

Notes:  Other early names that end in -ca- include Isca, Leuca, Evidensca, and Οβοκα (Liffey at Dublin).
